Cross Over is a two-player game for ages 7 and up. To start the game each player lines up their ten marbles on their start line. Roll the die to see who goes first. Player with the highest number starts.
You win this game by losing your marbles so some of the rolls have special move options. A roll of 1 has three options, at the start of the game the best choice is to eliminate two marbles from your side of the board. This move takes the marbles right out of game play. (the other options come into play later).
The rolls of two, three & four simply move your marbles toward the Cross Over line. You will want to get your marbles to the Cross Over line quickly, because that is where you give them to your opponent to condent with as well as acheive the right to push them around for awhile. this is lot's of fun!
The roll of five is a great roll, you control any marbles on the board. Move yours toward the Cross Over line or move your opponents back off their Cross Over line. This is where some of your strategy takes place.
The roll of six has no move value, it has a jump value. Jump your marble from your Cross Over line over to your opponents open Cross Over line (directly across from you) then you can push this marble back to any open space you think would hurt your opponent most. This is very important to understand. You must be on the Cross Over Line and your opponent can't have you blocked with one of their marbles. When You roll a six and you are not on the Cross Over line or your opponent has a marble blocking you, your turn is ended.
The roll of one had two other move options. At some point in the game it might benefit you to add a marble to your opponent from the marbles removed during game play or you can choose to push up to three of your opponents marbles straight back to their start line or as close to it as possible. These options also help you out later in the game when your opponent is hammering you with full control of your marbles. This takes place when they reach all their marbles to the Cross Over line. Move them off, they lose this control.
